Kenya

Kenya is a country on the continent of Africa, approximately half a world away from Los Angeles, California. It takes about 22-24 hours to fly there with one short stopover. Other flights can take up to 38 hours! The country has about 48 million people living there and is considered the jewel of Africa. The country has a wide range of environments, including mountain resorts, modern cities (Nairobi, the largest and the capital), lots of safari options with all the animals one would expect and the beautiful Mombasa coast, next to the Indian Ocean. It's a world away, for sure, but it's beauty and adventure is worth the trip. Just do lots of research and planning for the best results!

Safari Time!
A "safari" is defined as a journey or expedition, for hunting, exploration, or investigation, especially in eastern Africa.(Dictionary.com) This safari we went on is one of the most exotic trips we've ever taken! It all started by meeting a local family with an amazing opportunity in the beautiful country of Kenya. One thing led to another and here we go - being guided by people who lived there for many years. Our adventures included visiting the Karen Blixen Museum and Coffee Garden & Cottages in Nairobi. If you have seen "Out of Africa" you'll recognize the name. After a few nights we moved on to Mara Sarova Mara Game Camp for a luxury camping safari. Then we will flew to the east coast of Kenya for a few nights in the Ocean Sports Resort and enjoy the beauty of the Kenyan beaches. Our final leg was spent at Grogan's Castle, owned by our friends. It overlooks Mt. Kilimanjaro and is a great place to end our epic vacation! Browse the pictures and the commentaries on this trip for lots of travel tips and ideas through our first hand experiences!
